VG Foundation Supports Bardagoriya Gaushala Amid Food Crisis

31 March 2026

A recent report by OnlineKhabar has highlighted the difficult situation at a gaushala in Bardagoriya Rural Municipality, Kailali, where more than 200 cows have been facing a serious shortage of food and proper care.

According to the report, more than 200 cows housed in the gaushala are in a weak, malnourished, and vulnerable condition. Many cows have reportedly fallen ill, and cases of daily deaths have also been observed. The primary reason behind this crisis is the lack of sufficient budget allocation and ineffective resource management. Although an annual budget has been assigned, a significant portion is spent on staff salaries, leaving minimal funds for essential needs such as fodder and nutrition.

The problem has worsened during the winter season, when natural grazing is not sufficient. In addition, poor infrastructure and lack of proper maintenance have made the situation more challenging.

In response to this situation, VG Foundation stepped in to provide immediate support to the gaushala. In the first phase, the foundation donated 5 quintals of grass to help feed more than 200 cows. The support was valued at NPR 20,000.

In the second phase, VG Foundation provided additional food supplies, including 40 dozen of banana fruits and 1,200 pieces of dry roti, also worth NPR 20,000. This support helped meet the immediate food needs of the cows.

VG Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to Udit Narayan Bhandari, Operation In-charge at NIC Asia Bank, Bauniya Branch, for his effective coordination and dedicated support in facilitating the smooth handover of relief materials at the gaushala. His contribution was instrumental in ensuring efficient delivery and proper distribution of the supplies.

VG Foundation’s timely intervention has played a crucial role in addressing the immediate food crisis at the gaushala, ensuring that over 200 cows received essential nutrition during a critical period. Through its two-phase support, the foundation not only provided relief but also demonstrated its strong commitment to animal welfare and community responsibility.
