As part of the continued efforts under the “Bridging the Digital Divide” project, VG Foundation in collaboration with the Leo Club of Budigandaki successfully conducted a five-day computer training program at AUM School located in Budhanilkantha. The training was provided to students from Grades 1 to 7, with the primary goal of strengthening digital literacy from early learning stages and equipping students with useful technological skills that support their academic and personal development
On the first day, students were introduced to MS Word, where they learned how to create and edit documents. They practiced basic tools such as typing text, changing fonts, adjusting sizes, and using formatting options like bold, italic, and underline. Older students explored paragraph alignment and inserting simple shapes or pictures, gaining insight into how digital writing can be more efficient and visually appealing.
The second day focused on creativity and technology through MS Paint. Students engaged in drawing activities using different paint tools, colors, brushes, and shapes. The younger students especially enjoyed expressing their imagination on the screen, while others enhanced their coordination and artistic skills in a fun and interactive environment.
On the third day, students were introduced to MS Excel, learning the basics of working with rows, columns, and simple data entry. They practiced creating tables and understanding how spreadsheets can be used for organizing information, calculations, and real-life applications such as making class lists and score sheets.
The fourth day was dedicated to practical writing skills. Students improved their typing through fun exercises and games designed to increase speed and accuracy. They learned the format of official letters and reports, and practiced writing these documents in MS Word. This session helped students understand how computers are useful not only for learning but also for communication and presentation of information.
The final day introduced students to MS PowerPoint, where they created simple slide presentations. They practiced adding text, choosing layouts, inserting images, and organizing slides to communicate information clearly. This boosted their confidence in sharing ideas visually and also enhanced their presentation skills.
This five-day training successfully enhanced students’ practical knowledge of the MS Office package while inspiring curiosity and confidence in using technology. The teachers at AUM school expressed gratitude and highlighted the long-term benefits students would gain from the program.
With AUM school being the fourth school trained under this initiative, VG Foundation and the Leo club of Budigandaki are proud to mark the completion of this phase of the “Bridging the Digital Divide” project. VG Foundation remains committed to expanding its reach and continuing to ensure that every child has equal access to digital education and the opportunities it provides.
