VG Foundation Supports Elderly Caregiver Raising Five Grandchildren in Gulmi

April 24, 2026

In a moving example of resilience and responsibility, 75-year-old Kumari Nepali from Isma Gaupalika–3, Takura in Gulmi continues to fight daily hardship while caring for her family. Widowed at just 30, her life has been marked by continuous loss and struggle. Over the years, she has lost both of her sons, and her daughter-in-law is no longer part of the family, leaving her as the sole guardian of her five grandchildren—three granddaughters and two grandsons.

Despite her advanced age, Kumari Nepali works as a daily wage laborer to provide for her family. In some instances, she is even forced to break stones to earn a living. Her situation reflects not only financial hardship but also the emotional burden of raising young children without stable support.

Recognizing the urgency of her situation, VG Foundation stepped forward to provide essential relief. The organization extended support in the form of food supplies worth NPR 20,000 to help ease the family’s immediate needs. This assistance aims to provide some stability and ensure that the children and their grandmother have access to basic necessities.

The support was made possible through the coordination and dedicated efforts of reporter Depak Nepali, who has been actively involved in highlighting social issues within the community. His role in facilitating the handover of support and covering the story through his Facebook channel has helped bring attention to Kumari Nepali’s condition and similar cases that often go unnoticed.

VG Foundation expresses its sincere appreciation to Depak Nepali for his continued commitment to social service and community welfare. His work plays a vital role in connecting those in need with organizations that can offer meaningful support.
